After 35 years of active clinical practice, I opened a. medical consultation service in 2019 under the corporate name, Mentis Medica.

My previous clinical practice was based on both general orthopedics and joint reconstruction, knee replacement, sports medicine and joint arthroplasty. Additional responsibilities involved a position as Medical Director of Orthopaedics at the Jewish/Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio and the medical director of Genex BWC/Ohio..

I have positions as Associate Editor Emeritus for the Journal of Arthroscopy and editor for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. IN this capacity, peer review is performed on research and medical papers . As the editor for Dynamed Ebsco online medical information, literature review and meta analysis is performed along with topic development

This experience has afforded me insight into issues regarding patient care. In my practice, I found that many patients failed to fully understand what was being done, what had happened, or what alternative options were available for treatment of an orthopedic condition.

Mentis Medicus consultation service is aimed at providing a review of medical records for the purpose of a detailed analysis and understanding treatments rendered. This includes legal review of cases to determine if medical care met local standards . It is appreciated that medical charts may be voluminous and orthopedic procedures are complex requiring years of training and experience to fully understand. This service analyzes and break down the complexity of the records into an easily understood summary.

I also have extensive experience in medical legal cases. This includes depositions in both local, state, and federal court regarding standards of care an personal liability.  

I have found that providing a clear explanation and the reasoning behind the care given is critical in any medical review. This requires time to explain the complexity of an issue and provide supportive information.  

Performing these kinds of din depth and analytical medical reviews is personally gratifying. It has an end  purpose to improve patient awareness, understanding treatments and to improve the quality of health care. This  ultimately will result in improvements to patient satisfaction and wellness.
