Medical Second Opinion

An independent and detailed review of records will provide insight and information regarding recommended medical treatment and care. A detailed report is performed that answers all questions and includes peer review publications to support a recommended approach to an orthopedic condition Through such an independent review a determination can be made if treatments rendered were appropriate and best options for future care.

Medical Chart Review

Medical records will be reviewed and scrutinized to evaluate if standards of care have been maintained throughout treatment. This review includes physician notes, operative reports, laboratory findings and nursing information. Through critical analysis, information that supports the care given or deviates from established treatments may be uncovered. On request a cost review of charges will be performed to determine the necessity of medications or procedures.

Analysis of Medical Conditions

Orthopaedic medical conditions and treatments requires knowledge of multiple disciplines. This includes anatomy, pharmacology, surgery and physiology. When requested, an in depth analysis and subsequent presentation of a medical issue or procedure will be performed. A summary report will be given that allows for an easy understanding of the pathologies and treatments involved . Through both written and verbal communication the client will have the ability to clarify an area of confusion..

Legal Review

Cases involving either support of a plaintiff or defense of a litigant will be performed in a comprehensive and detailed manner. Within 5 days an opinion will be given in an unbiased manner. Evidence and references will be provided to support the opinion. Information regarding any deviation from standards of care will be clearly stated. When necessary, both deposition and trial appearance may be arranged.

Who is Mark G. Siegel, M.D.

He has over thirty five years of active clinical experience in the area of general orthopedics, knee reconstruction and joint arthroplasty. After leaving clinical practice in 2019, he devoted his work towards improving patient care and standards through critical review of medical records and treatments. He has performed hundreds of medical case reviews and is able to succinctly and quickly provide a summary of the pertinent medical issues regarding the treatments rendered. These reviews may include a determination of the quality of care and how it applies to medical standards.. The summary will also include an analysis of the medical issues involved and provide supporting references.

Work Experience

In addition to over three decades of direct patient care , he has authored over 40 peer review articles and is listed among the top 10% most cited physicians. He has been Chairman of the Department of orthopedics and worked on the Editorial board of two orthopedic journals.Additional experience includes the development of online reviews and meta analysis for Dynamed/Ebsco services. He holds the position of Emeritus Associate Editor at the Journal of Arthroscopy.
